Fitting More Fitness into Your Day
We are all aware of the benefits of keeping active and many of us are continuously looking for ways to introduce more exercise into our everyday lives. While an extra gym session, personal training workout or morning run are all great and obvious choices, sometimes there are ways to squeeze in more exercise into your day without disrupting your routine. So, we’ve put together a list of helpful tips to allow you increase your activity levels without disrupting your busy schedule.
Step up to the Stairs
While this may seem like an obvious answer, people are often surprised by how many additional steps they fit into their day by simply swapping the elevator for the stairs. Climbing the stairs also gets your heart pumping while helping to maintain healthy bones and muscles. Besides, opting for the stairs is often quicker than waiting for the elevator anyway!
Separate Exercise into Short Bursts
Planning all your exercise for the evening after a busy day can often result in you not doing any. Separating your exercise into short bursts throughout the day will break up your day to keep your mind focused while ensuring you fit in all your exercise. Maybe try walking around the office for 2-3 minutes every hour, or if you’re working from home, stretch out your muscles every hour, on the hour. Planning a short walk in the morning and at lunch will ensure your evening exercise doesn’t take up your entire evening!
Coffee Catch-Ups
If you are planning to meet a friend for a coffee, take it to go and walk around the park instead of sitting down. When walking with a friend, we are more invested in the conversation and their company than the exercise itself, and we can end up walking a long distance without realising. This is a simple way of increasing your activity, especially if you meet for coffee a few times a week!
Become Besties with your Ab Toning Belt
Incorporating an ab toning workout into your everyday routine has never been so easy! Simply pop on your ab toning belt and sneak in a 30 minute workout at a time that suits you. Perhaps first thing in the morning, while working at your desk, while cooking dinner or doing laundry, or even while walking. Of course, Slendertone is not a replacement for exercise, and it should be used as part of a balanced lifestyle, but it is a great way to target those hard-to-reach areas of your core, as well as including more fitness in your daily routine.
Workout on your Way to Work
Walking or cycling to work is one of the best ways to fit more exercise into your day. Not only will you feel stronger, you’ll also be starting your day with a clear mind and a fresh outlook! If you live too far from work to exercise the whole way, get off the bus a few stops earlier than usual and walk the rest. Doing this on your morning and evening commute will help you unwind and relieve stress while quickly clocking up your steps – win win!
